Meet the dynamic sister duo behind Carolima’s Lowcountry Cuisine and Carolima’s Dessert Boutique – Emma M. Cromedy and Sameka M. Jenkins.
Growing up, Emma was the creative force, always finding imaginative ways to prepare her favorite foods. From experimenting with an Easy Bake oven during Christmas to baking beautiful and delicious cakes for friends and family, her passion for baking evolved into a business. The SouthernCakeQueen mobile dessert truck took Charlotte by storm in 2011, operating for over six years.
Meanwhile, Sameka's love for cooking began in college, where she fed friends with authentic Lowcountry dishes. As one of Charleston’s most sought-after Gullah Chefs, she excels in preparing classics like red rice and shrimp and grits. A business graduate from Francis Marion University, Sameka seamlessly incorporates her degree into every aspect of Carolima’s Lowcountry Cuisine. She caters events throughout Charleston, bringing the rich flavors of the Lowcountry to delighted guests.
After returning to Charleston, Emma joined forces with Sameka to become Carolina's in-house baker. Now, they whip up a delightful selection of made-from-scratch Southern desserts. From Emma's famous Charleston Chewies and specialty cakes to Sameka's authentic Lowcountry dishes, every bite reflects their shared passion for culinary excellence.

Sameka M. Jenkins is the chef behind the infamous Carolima’s Lowcountry Cuisine. Sameka’s love for cooking began as a way to feed friends while in college. Being a native of the Lowcountry everyone expected her to know how to prepare dishes like red rice and shrimp and grits- and she did! As one of Charleston’s most sought after Gullah Chefs she loves catering events throughout the Charleston area.
A graduate of Francis Marion University, Sameka uses her business degree in every aspect of their catering business.
My love affair with baking began in childhood. Armed with an Easy-Bake oven and boundless creativity, I transformed simple ingredients into delectable treats. I decorated them with anything I could find in the kitchen, each creation a testament to my budding passion.
Fast forward to adulthood, and that passion blossomed into a business. Initially, I baked for loved ones, delighting them with homemade cakes. Then, a pivotal moment arrived: my sister's baby shower cake. Its beauty and deliciousness ignited a spark within me, leading me to launch Charlotte's FIRST mobile dessert truck, The SouthernCakeQueen.
After spreading joy on the streets of Charlotte with The SouthernCakeQueen for over six years, I relocated to Charleston with my family. Here, I joined forces with Carolima's Lowcountry Cuisine, bringing my passion for delicious desserts to their team as their in-house pastry chef.
Today, Carolima's offers a delightful selection of made-from-scratch Southern desserts, crafted with love. Our legendary Charleston Chewies and stunning specialty cakes are customer favorites, but every creation reflects my dedication to quality and flavor.
My journey extends beyond baking. I've been featured on Food Network and the Cooking Channel, and I'm a proud member of Les Dames d'Escoffier.
